MATE MATE WHAT?
Just the best from South America, the green continent.
The Yerba-tea-plant, the source from which Mate tea is made, can be found all over South America. Traditionally, after the harvest, its wonderful green leaves are first shredded and then roasted over an open fire. We don’t really like this quick and dirty method, mainly because it can leave a burnt taste on the tongue. For MATE MATE, we have chosen another way, first fermenting the leaves very carefully and then for a brief moment exposing them to great heat. This process takes longer, but it’s well worth the extra time. Not only does it produce a better taste, but is the only way to preserve all the precious ingredients of the mate.

MATE MATE WHO?
The refreshment pioneers from Berlin.
Mate Mate is a new idea from Berlin-based Thomas Henry. Maybe you’ve come across the other things we do: Tonic Water, Bitter Lemon, Ginger Ale and Spicy Ginger/Ginger Beer. When we set out in 2010 to produce the best bitter lemonades, we had one goal and one goal only: a perfect selection of soft drinks. We simply weren’t happy with what we could buy, so we had to do it ourselves. Now it’s time to do it again. With Mate tea. And because we’d rather put twice the effort in than do things by half, our Mate is called MATE MATE.
MATE MATE HOW?
Pure or mixed.
Enjoy MATE MATE pure, straight from the fridge or on the rocks: yummy! Speaking of yummy: did you know that mixing MATE MATE, you can create the perfect drinks for a long night out?
DRINK MATE MATE AND DO SOME GOOD
Every bottle counts.
MATE MATE supports the not-for-profit organisation JUGEND GEGEN AIDS e.V. (JGA) (Youth against Aids). For every bottle sold, we make a small contribution to JGA’s educational project “Positive Schule“ (positive school). This project involves students and trainees visiting schools and youth clubs, as well as manning booths at music festivals and events to raise awareness of sexuality in general, HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Showing tremendous passion and energy, these volunteers are striving to change society for the better.
We are very proud of them. Are you, too?

WHAT IS MATE MATE MADE FROM?
Meet Ilex paraguariensis, our exclusive raw-material supplier. Considered to be the king among the yerba mate trees, we treat its leaves with the upmost respect and care. By doing so, we make sure that its great taste is preserved for its long journey from South America to Europe.
WHAT MAKES MATE MATE SO UNIQUE?
Using the best ingredients along with a gentle and careful process matter more to us than anything else. MATE MATE does taste great, but also vivifies your body and soul, stimulates your metabolism and is an all-natural source of energy.
TEA OR LEMONADE. WHICH ONE IS IT?
MATE MATE is a soft drink containing mate tea extract. Feel free to call it a lemonade!
WHY DOES A BOTTLE OF MATE MATE CONTAIN SO MUCH CAFFEINE?
Because that’s what you need sometimes. And if you do, why not add great taste?
WHY DO YOU USE AGAVE SYRUP?
Compared to conventional sugar, Agave syrup is much more digestible and also adds a fruity and light taste to MATE MATE. Fun fact: Using agave syrup, we are able to reduce the calorie count by roughly 50 percent.
VEGAN AND GLUTEN-FREE?
Of course! We’re positively not in the cheeseburger business.
THE PATTERN ON THE LABEL LOOKS NICE. WHAT’S THE STORY?
We wanted to create a playground for our monkey. Have you spotted him yet?
WHAT’S THE IDEA BEHIND JGA? AND HOW DO YOU COOPERATE
JGA stands for “Jugend gegen AIDS” or “Youth against AIDS“. We are avid supporters of this not-for-profit organisation, run entirely by young volunteers. Students and trainees visit schools and youth clubs, but also set up booths at music festivals and events to raise awareness of sexuality in general, HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Their dedication matters a great deal to us. This is why we already donate a percentage of our sales revenue to JGA. In the future, we are looking forward to extending our partnership, organizing events and further raising the bar for awareness and respect.
